18,000 buyers attend HKTDC’s Watch & Clock Fair

Hong Kong, 7th September: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) concluded its 38th edition of the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and the seventh edition of the Salon de TE last week. Despite the recent political unrest in Hong Kong, the event welcomed close to 18,000 buyers from 104 countries and regions.

Jointly organised by the HKTDC, the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd and The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades and Industries Ltd, the co-located fairs ran from 3rd to 7th September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). According to the HKTDC, “satisfactory growth” was recorded in terms of buyer attendance from emerging markets including Brazil, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam.

NECC Shanghai to add exhibition space

Shanghai, 18th September: National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) (NECC), currently one of Asia’s largest exhibition venues, announced that the venue will add at least 60,000 m2 of new exhibition capacity. This expansion project will bring the venue’s total capacity to more than 464,000 m2 of gross indoor space.

NECC will add two single-storey pavilions. In addition, the venue will invest in new high-quality hardware and software throughout the venue – after the completion of the expansion.

Dental event in Indonesia features over 230 exhibitors

Jakarta, 15th September: Organised by Koelnmesse and PT. Traya Eksibisi Internasional in collaboration with the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI), the Premier Dental Exhibition and Conference in Indonesia (IDEC) featured 232 exhibiting brands and companies from 18 countries including three national pavilions from China, Germany and South Korea.

The three-day exhibition and conference was held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) running from 13th to 15th September. Exhibitors showcased the latest dental product and services to more than 4,000 trade buyers.

2 industrial shows at China International Industry Fair feature 1,300 exhibitors

Shanghai, 17th September: The China International Industry Fair (CIIF) opened on 17th September 2019 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) (NECC). The events featured two co-located shows, the Metalworking and CNC Machine Tool Show (MWCS) 2019 and the Industrial Automation Show (IAS) 2019 – both under the CIIF umbrella. MWCS featured more than 600 exhibitors and IAS attracted over 700 exhibitors.

Organised by Deutsche Messe AG and Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, MWCS 2019 and IAS 2019 run from 17th to 21st September. This year CIIF’s overall theme was: “Intelligence & Interconnection – Empowering New Industrial Development.” MWCS reportedly covered 80,000 m2 and IAS 2019 covered 70,000 m2 of exhibition area showcasing industrial automation, electrical systems, robotics and IT information solutions.

CloserStill Media to launch Technology for Marketing Asia

Singapore, 11th September: CloserStill Media will launch an Asian edition of its Technology for Marketing event series in Singapore. The new event, Technology for Marketing Asia will run from 9th to 10th October 2019 at Marina Bay Sands.

Technology for Marketing Asia will include an exhibition and conference programme led by speakers from leading industry organisations. The event aims to help marketers unlock the latest opportunities and innovations and to “elevate their marketing game.” CloserStill expects that the event will attract more than 1,000 international delegates – who will primarily be marketing professionals from enterprises across the Asia Pacific market. The new event will be co-located with other industry events including eCommerce Expo Asia, Cloud Expo Asia, Cloud & Cyber Security Expo, Big Data World, Smart IoT Singapore and Data Centre World.

Tourism Australia appoints first female MD

Australia, 12th September: Tourism Australia has promoted Phillipa Harrison to the position of Managing Director, effective immediately. She replaces John O’Sullivan who left the organisation in May.

As the first ever female to lead Tourism Australia, Ms. Harrison previously held the position of Executive General Manager – International and she has served as acting role of Managing Director since the departure of John O’Sullivan.

Pico Thailand posts decline in revenues and profit

Bangkok, 9th September: Earlier this week, Pico Thailand, the Thai-listed subsidiary of Pico Far East Holdings, released its financial results for the quarter ended 31st July 2019. Revenues in the quarter were US$8.2 million dropping 43% compared to the same quarter in 2018. The company’s profits in the quarter also recorded a decline – down 64% year-on-year to US$151,000.

MyCEB secures 300+ business events in first half

Kuala Lumpur, 6th September: The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) reports that a total of 301 business events were confirmed in the first half of the year. An estimated 570,000 delegates including nearly 209,000 international delegates will deliver an estimated economic impact of RM3.9 billion (US$934 million). The events will be held from the second half of this year through to 2028.
