Macau, 30th August: Last week, Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released its MICE statistics for the second quarter of 2019. In the quarter, a total of 357 MICE events were held in Macau, 30 events more than in the second quarter of 2018. However, the total number of participants in the second quarter decreased 14%, down to 353,000.
Among the 357 events, 345 were meetings and conferences, 29 events more than in Q2 2018. The total number of participants dropped significantly down 46%. The total figure was 53,000 participants and delegates. Ten exhibitions were held in period, one more exhibition than second quarter of 2018. The number of attendees at exhibitions fell modestly by 1.8% down to 299,000. The total gross size occupied by the exhibitions fell 3.3% down to 78,000 m2.
