Meorient up 11% in revenues & profits in Q3

Hangzhou, 30th October: Newly-listed Meorient, a Hangzhou-based exhibition organiser, announced its financial results for the quarter ended 30th September 2019. Revenues were US$13 million, representing an increase of 11%. The company’s net profits in the quarter also grew by 11% reaching US$1.4 million.

The Shenzhen-listed company also reported its financial results for the nine months ended 30th September. Revenues in the nine-month period were US$36 million, representing growth 8.1% year-on-year. Net profits were US$3.7 million, up 5.6% compared with the same period in 2018. Diluted earnings per share for the first nine months of 2019 were RMB 0.35 (US$0.049).

Lansheng’s revenues up, profits down

Shanghai, 26th October: Lansheng, Shanghai-listed exhibition organiser (and conglomerate), has released its results for the nine months ended 30th September 2019. The company generated revenues of US$357 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%. However, its net profits in the period dropped 31%, down to US$23 million. Management attributed the decrease in profits to a rise in the cost of its operations.

Diluted earnings per share in the first nine months of the year were RMB 0.39 (US$0.055).

Netsun’s profit up in Q3

Hangzhou, 23rd October: Zhejiang Netsun, a Chinese online information provider, recently announced its financial results for the quarter ended 30th September 2019. Netsun generated revenues of US$18 million in the third quarter, rising by 6.5% compared to the same quarter last year. Net income jumped by an impressive 234%, but the total figure remained at just US$1.8 million.

Made-in-China.com’s profit up 58% in Q3

Nanjing, 23rd October: Earlier this week, Shenzhen-listed Focus Technology, which is the owner and operator of Made-in-China.com, reported its financial results for the quarter ended 30th September 2019. Revenues in the quarter were US$35 million, representing an increase of 6.9% compared with the same quarter last year. The company’s net income increased by 58% to US$6.6 million in the quarter.

Shenzhen game show to move to Shenzhen World

Shenzhen, 11th October: The 7th edition of the Shenzhen International Game Show in 2020 will move to Shenzhen’s new mega venue, Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. The event will run from 23rd to 26th July 2020.

The show will be organised under the theme, “New Venue, New Planning” and the organiser notes that the aim of the event is to further develop a professional and inclusive game industry event. It will also focus on integrating quality animation and game resources in the development of new games. Highlights of the event will include: “superstar gamers”, cosplay performances, a dance competition, and live shows of internationally pop groups.

Comexposium forms JV to organise RemaxWorld

Shanghai, 22nd October: Comexposium, a French international exhibition organiser, announced that the company has entered into a joint venture agreement with Recycling Times Media Corporation, founder of RemaxWorld, to organise and develop the RemaxWorld Expo & Summit.

Under the terms of the partnership, Comexposium will organise and develop RemaxWorld Expo & Summit, an office equipment and printing consumable industry exhibition. The annual event is held in Zhuhai, China and it occupies an exhibition area of 30,000 m2 featuring 450 exhibitors and 14,000 visitors from 104 countries.

Meorient lists on Shenzhen exchange

Shenzhen, 22nd October: Meorient, a Chinese exhibition organiser, has listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE). The company debuted on the exchange on 22nd October. Meorient’s stock code is 300795. The company is reportedly the first exhibition organiser in China to be listed on a major stock exchange.

According to the SZSE, Meorient’s IPO offered just over 25 million shares at RMB 14.27 (US$2.02) per share and raising funds of RMB 357 million (US$51 million). The post-public-offering share capital is RMB 100.2 million. Meorient’s shares closed on Friday at RMB 27.36.

 

XPO acquires 9 shows at North Port Events

New Zealand, 23rd October: XPO Exhibitions, a trade show organiser in New Zealand, announced that the company has acquired nine shows from North Port Events. No financial details were released.

The nine shows are The Baby Shows, The Food Shows (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch), Fine Food New Zealand, Facilities Integrate, The Waikato Home & Garden Show, Autumn HomeXPO.

Busan to host technology congress in 2026

Busan, 15th October: The board of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) World Congress has announced that the 23rd edition of its congress will be held in Busan, Korea from 20th to 25th August 2026.

 

The congress is expected to draw 3,500 delegates to Busan. The bid was supported by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), Busan Tourism Organization (BTO), and the Control Robot Systems Society, South Korea’s member in the IFAC.

 

ITB Asia attracts record number of exhibitors

Singapore, 16th October: One of the leading travel trade shows in Asia, ITB Asia, was held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. A new record of more than 1,300 exhibitors from around the world participated in this year’s show.

 

Now in its 20th year, ITB Asia 2019 was held from 16th to 18th October and for the first time, expanded to occupy two floors at the venue. First time attendees included national tourism organisations from Armenia, Czech Republic, Malta, Russia and the Balkan States – Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, and regional tourism organisations from Busan, Frankfurt, and Los Angeles.

Melbourne Convention Bureau posts record results

Melbourne, 10th October: This week, the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) released a report outlining strong results for the financial year 2018-19. According to MCB, 229 events were secured in the financial year, generating an economic impact of $507 million (US$356 million), bringing over 136,000 visitors to the state and generating over 226,000 room nights along with A$45 million (US$32 million) in direct revenues for the accommodation sector.

 

Conferences in the health and medical sectors grew 38% in the year. Corporate meetings and incentive business also reportedly performed strongly. MCB secured 132 new events, delivering an estimated A$64 million (US$45 million) in economic impact and welcoming over 16,000 new visitors to the state of Victoria.

Global Sources Consumer Electronics opens with 4,000+ booths

Hong Kong, 11th October: This week, Hong Kong-based Global Sources opened its Global Sources Consumer Electronics Show at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) on 11th October featuring more than 4,000 booths offering electronic products and services.

 

Running until 14th October, key categories at this edition included home, outdoor and automotive electronics, gaming products, smart living electronics, components, commercial electronics as well as computer products and accessories.

HKTDC’s Electronics Fair features 3,800 exhibitors

Hong Kong, 13th October: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia earlier this week at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The co-located shows ran from 13th to 16th October drawing more than 67,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions.

 

In its 39th edition, the Electronics Fair featured approximately 3,800 exhibitors. More than 50,000 buyers attended the Electronics Fair. Jointly organised by the HKTDC and MMI Asia, the 23rd edition of electronicAsia featured 570 exhibitors. Over 17,000 visitors attended electronicAsia.

170,000+ visitors at Furniture China 2019

Shanghai, 15th October: Organised by the Shanghai Sinoexpo Informa Markets International Exhibition Company, the 25th edition of Furniture China – the China International Furniture Expo attracted over 170,000 attendees from 160 countries and regions.

 

Among the attendees, a total of more than 21,000 were from overseas. The four-day show ran from 9th to 12th September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) covering an area of 350,000 m2 and featured 3,500 exhibitors.

HKTDC to open electronics & lighting fairs

Hong Kong, 3rd October: Despite the ongoing protests, Hong Kong’s autumn peak trade show season is now well underway. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will open four trade shows later this month, including Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), electronicAsia, Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) and Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo.

Positioned as the world’s largest electronics marketplace, the concurrent Electronics Fair and electronicAsia will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) running from 13th to 16th October. About 4,300 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions are expected to showcase their products at the concurrent shows. The Electronics Fair is organised by the HKTDC, while electronicAsia is jointly organised by the HKTDC and MMI Asia Pte Limited.

The Lighting Fair will run from 27th to 30th October, also at HKCEC, while the Outdoor and Tech Light Expo will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) from 29th October to 1st November. The two fairs will present some 3,100 exhibitors.

Interfilière Shanghai concludes with record visitor numbers

Shanghai, 9th October: Comexposium’s Eurovet Asia concluded the 15th edition of its event, Interfilière Shanghai last month posting record attendance numbers.

Running from 26th to 27th September at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, the two-day trade fair showcased 150 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions presenting products including fibres, fabrics, lace, accessories, embroidery, OEM & ODM, machinery as well as textile designers, trend agencies and certification institutions. The organiser stated that the event recorded a 15% increase in the number of visitors. The top 12 countries and regions for trade visitors at the event were China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, U.S., Russia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Poland and India.

Informa Markets holds successful beautyexpo Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 4th October: International exhibition organiser, Informa Markets, opened its beautyexpo in Malaysia running from 4th to 7th October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The show featured six dedicated zones: Beauty Salon, Hair Salon, Make-up & Education, Nail Salon, OEM/ODM, and Halal Beauty. The organiser expects the show to attracted nearly 16,000 visitors.
