Paris/Worldwide, 7th June: The third edition of Global Exhibition Day (GED) was held on 6th June 2018. GED aims to highlight the industry’s role as a driver of economic growth. According to UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, GED 2018 will be the most important day of advocacy for the exhibition world.
This year’s GED focused on two key objectives: to advocate industry issues with politicians and stakeholders and to find new ways to connect with young people in order to attract the right talent to the exhibition industry. Activities were held in 85 countries and regions on 6th June. A total of 41 GED partner associations united behind this joint advocacy campaign. On Twitter, more than four million Twitter accounts were reached using the #GED18 hashtag.
Bangkok, 6th June: The 15th edition of THAIFEX-World of Food Asia concluded earlier this month, attracting a record of over 62,000 trade visitors, an increase of nearly 13% compared with the previous edition in 2017.
Running from 29th May to 2nd June, at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, the five-day show occupied an exhibition area of 107,000 m2, featuring 2,537 exhibitors, a 17% increase year-on-year. Of the visitors, a total of 13,110 were international trade visitors from over 150 countries, representing a year-on-year growth of 9.4%.
Hyderabad, 8th June: UBM India opened its Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair 2018 on 8th June at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre. The three-day show concluded on 10th June.
More than 200 exhibitors attended the show, including jewellery brands, wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, jewellery manufacturers, machinery manufacturers, diamond, gemstone, pearl suppliers and traders, precious metal and jewellery traders.
Beijing, 5th June: Jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) and Beijing B&A Tiger Exhibition Company, the event, ISH China & CIHE – China International Trade Fair for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Sanitation & Home Comfort System was held from 22nd to 24th May 2018. It attracted a total of 70,202 visitors, a 14% increase over last year.
The three-day show was held at the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) in Beijing, showcasing 1,300 exhibitors. According to the organisers, a significant number of exhibitors expanded their booth size this year. Overall, the space sold grew by 8.6%, occupying 116,000 m2.
Bangkok, 2nd June: The inaugural edition of SILMO Bangkok, an optical and eyewear exhibition targeting the ASEAN region, will be held at IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Center running from 20th to 22nd June 2018.
SILMO Bangkok will be organised by IMPACT Exhibition Management Company and it is expected that approximately 250 brands to be showcased at the show. Organiser is also expecting more than 4,000 trade visitors during the three-day event. The theme of the exhibition will be “Business Meets Fashion”. The show will feature new collections and the latest optical technologies and solutions for the industry in ASEAN region.
China/U.K., 4th June: Recently, IBTM, part of Reed Travel Exhibitions, announced two new appointments. Shane Hannam will become the portfolio director and Nicole Ci will be the event manager for IBTM China.
Hannam has over 16 years’ experience in the international events industry. He officially assumed this new role on 1st June 2018. Previously, he was sales director – key accounts for Reed Travel Exhibitions.
Ci has eight years’ experience in the events industry in China. Recently, she was project manager for the China Children’s Book Fair where she was responsible for both the B2B and B2C elements of the show.
