Bangkok, 14th March: Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) unveiled a new initiative for the ASEAN region. Together with Thai Airways, the two organisations jointly launched the ASEAN MaxiMICE campaign, targeting MICE travellers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore. According to TCEB, in 2018 ASEAN MICE arrivals grew 58%.
Separately, TCEB released its statistics for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2019 (October to December 2018). During the quarter, Thailand welcomed over 241,000 international MICE travellers and they generated 18 billion baht (US$554 million) in revenues. The top five markets in the quarter were China (85,498 travellers), Laos (29,547 travellers), Malaysia (21,352 travellers), Indonesia (21,051 travellers) and Japan (19,205 travellers).
