NSW earmarks funding to attract business events

Australia, 4th August: Recently, the New South Wales (NSW) government launched its “Regional Conferencing Strategy & Action Plan” which is designed to drive more conventions, meetings and business events to the rural and regional areas of the state. The government has earmarked a budget of A$6 million (US$4.8 million) to fund the initiative.

The plan includes 11 strategic goals and 64 action items. The government has already established of a regional conferencing unit to work closely with the local industry. The NSW government has also launched a “Meet in Regional NSW” website to promote the business event venues and the destinations in the region and it has developed a toolkit to provide tips for service suppliers in the region.
