Hangzhou, 24th August: Last week, Shenzhen-listed Zhejiang Netsun reported revenues of US$25 million for the six months ended 30th June 2019. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 16% compared to the same period last year.

Hong Kong, 28th August: Hong Kong-listed HC Group has released its interim results for the six months ended 30th June 2019. The company’s revenues grew 87% in the period, reaching US$1 billion. However, the company posted a loss of US$24 million in the first half, compared with a profit of US$29 million in the first half of 2018.

Nanjing, 26th August: Earlier this week, Shenzhen-listed Focus Technology, which owns and operates B2B trading platform, Made-in-China.com, announced its financial results for the six months ended 30th June 2019. Revenues were US$70 million, a year-on-year increase of 18%.

Manila, 27th August: Reed Exhibitions’ gaming trade show, G2E Asia, unveiled plans to launch a new edition in the Philippines. G2E Asia @ the Philippines will be held from 3rd to 4th December 2019 at the Marriott Manila.

Beijing, 19th August: Earlier this week, Baidu, the leading Chinese language Internet search provider, released its financial results for the quarter ended 30th June 2019. Revenues in the quarter were US$3.8 billion, a moderate increase of 1.4% year-on-year. However, excluding revenues from its divested businesses, Global DU and Du Xiaoman, the revenue increase was 6.0%. Net income in the quarter dropped 62% compared with the second quarter of 2018, down to US$351 million.

Hangzhou, 15th August: Last week, China’s largest e-commerce company, the Alibaba Group, announced its results for the quarter ended 30th June 2019. The company recorded revenues of US$16.7 billion, up 42% year-on-year. Net income jumped 145% compared with the previous year, reaching US$2.1 billion.

Shenzhen, 15th August: Concurrent shows held in south China, Toy & Edu China and the concurrent event Baby & Stroller China will be relocated from Guangzhou to Shenzhen next year. In addition, another concurrent fair will be held, Licensing China.

Sydney, 19th August: International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) released its results for the financial year 2018/19. A total of 1.4 million delegates attended some 671 events at ICC Sydney during the year, generating A$896 million (US$629 million) in direct expenditure for New South Wales.

Hong Kong, 16th August: In its previous financial year running from July 2018 to June 2019, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) announced that it hosted a total of 1,000 events, including 119 exhibitions, 159 conferences and hundreds of corporate meetings, banquets and entertainment events. The venue welcomed a record 8.5+ million visitors during the year, including exhibitors, trade buyers, conference and meeting delegates, other event visitors, banquet guests and restaurant customers.

Beijing, 8th August: CCID Consulting, an IT research and information service provider in China, posted revenue growth of 43% in the first half of 2019 amounting to US$13 million. Profits in the six-month period were US$1.1 million, representing an increase of 200% year-on-year. Earnings per share in the period were RMB 0.0104 (US$0.0015).

Hong Kong, 8th August: Last week, Hong Kong-listed Sino Splendid (formerly China.com) released its results for the six-month period ended 30th June 2019. Revenues in the first half were US$6.2 million, a year-on-year increase of 16%. The company reduced its loss to US$638,000, compared with a loss of US$1.9 million in the same period in 2018.

Shenzhen, 1st August: The new 400,000 m2 mega venue, Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center which is set to open in the second half of 2019, has announced that the venue will host a new event – the first China Smart Home and Intelligent Building Decoration Expo (Shenzhen) from 10th to 13th July 2020.

Hong Kong, 12th August: The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (September Fair) will take place at AWE and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Products to be showcased at AWE will include loose gems of diamonds, gemstones and pearls, running from 16th to 20th September, featuring over 1,700 exhibitors. While the show at HKCEC will run from 18th to 22nd September, showcasing more than 2,000 exhibitors of finished jewellery products, packaging, tools and equipment.

Cairns, 8th August: The Cairns Convention Centre has received approval from the Queensland government’s for an A$179 million (US$119 million) upgrade of the venue. The Cairns Convention Centre opened in 1996 and is operated by AEG Ogden.
