Read MoreHong Kong, 20th April: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has recently concluded its Hong Kong Houseware Fair and Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair running from 20th to 23rd April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The two concurrent shows featured more than 2,500 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions attracting close to 47,000 buyers from 121 countries and regions.
In its 34th edition, Houseware Fair, billed as the largest show of its kind in Asia, brought some 2,200 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions including first time exhibitors from Egypt, France and Greece. More than 28,000 buyers visited the fair.
More than 300 exhibitors from seven countries and regions were showcased at the 10th Home Textiles and Furnishing Fair offering home textiles and furnishings products. Close to 19,000 buyers attended the fair this year.
Hong Kong, 18th April: Last week, Hong Kong-based Global Sources opened its Mobile Electronics show at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) running from 18th to 21st April and featuring about 3,600 booths.
The Mobile Electronics showcased the latest smartphones & tablets, AR/VR/MR, wearable electronics, mobile speakers & headphones, and mobile accessories that included cases & covers, power banks, and wireless charging products, and repair equipment, materials & services.
Hannover/Bangkok, 12th April: Deutsche Messe AG announced it will become an international partner of SETA (Smart Energy Transformation Asia) organised by GAT International Company.
Established three years ago, SETA covers the entire energy sector value chain from power generation and grid technology to energy storage and electric mobility solutions. It targets decision makers from the ASEAN region’s energy manufacturing and energy management sectors. The upcoming edition will run from 10th to 12th October 2019 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC). The organiser expects to attract some 130 exhibitors occupying an exhibition area of 4,000 m2 as well as over 8,500 trade visitors.
Paris, 23rd April: UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, released a new report, Global Economic Impact of Exhibitions, calculating the total global economic impact of exhibitions. According to the report, exhibitions generated €275 billion (US$325 billion) in total output globally in 2018.
UFI worked with Oxford Economics to produce the report and was also supported by SISO (Society of Independent Show Organisers). The exhibition sector generated direct GDP of €68.7 billion (US$81.8 billion) during the year. In 2018, some 32,000 exhibitions involved 303 million visitors and over 4.5 million exhibitors across more than 180 countries. A total of €167 billion (US$198 billion) was generated from direct spending and jobs that are specifically involved in planning and producing exhibitions, and for participants and exhibitors to travel to exhibitions, as well as other exhibition-related spending.
Korea, 17th April: The Korea MICE Bureau (KMB) will introduce two new MICE marketing campaigns designed to boost the industry in Korea. The new campaign for conventions will be “Stay Connected for Your Success,” while the corporate meetings & incentives campaign theme will be “Light Up Your Passion.”
The convention message summarizes Korea’s three key strengths in the international conferences: Convenient, Advance, and Network.
Meanwhile, the corporate meetings & incentives campaign comes from Korea’s three key strengths as a meetings and incentives destination: Intriguing, Innovation, and Convenient.
Nanjing, 25th April: Earlier this week, Focus Technology, owner and operator of Made-in-China.com, reported its financial results for the quarter ended 31st March 2019. Total revenues were US$35 million in the quarter. That represents a year-on-year increase of 25%.
In the same period, the Shenzhen-listed company posted growth of more than five times in its net profits, reaching US$9.8 million. Diluted earnings per share in the quarter were RMB 0.28 (US$0.042). Focus Technology’s management did not comment on the reasons for the growth in revenues and profits.
