C2 Melbourne cancelled as creator suddenly steps down

Melbourne, 24th August: C2 Melbourne was originally planned to be held from 17th to 19th October 2018, at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). The event was eventually cancelled following the sudden departure of the event creator and C2’s CEO Asia-Pacific Martin Enault.

It is reported that Enault has cited health reason for his decision. According to the event venue, MCEC, they have invested a lot of marketing capital into the event and it is expected to attract some 2,500 participants. C2 Melbourne has been promoted in various international trade shows recently and Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) also supported the event.

Mega Oncology Conference held at Shenyang’s Expo

Shenyang, 28th August: Earlier this month, Shenyang New World Expo (EXPO) hosted the 2018 Chinese Conference on Oncology, one of the largest Chinese international conferences held in northeast China, attracting more than 18,000 delegates.

According to the venue, the conference occupied all areas within the venue, including the 24,000 m2 of exhibition/multi-purpose space and 4,000 m2 of meeting space. During the event, the venue provided F&B service, venue safety and security services and transportation logistics.

Economic impact of events in Melbourne up 25%

Melbourne, 21st August: The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) reports that there was an estimated 25% increase in economic impact from business events in the financial year 2017-2018. Business events in Melbourne generated revenues of A$396 million (US$291 million) from 176 events. The number of first-time visitors was the highest in the past seven years – including over 79,000 new visitors.

Nearly 2,100 exhibitors attend HKTDC’s lifestyle fairs

Hong Kong, 15th August: Earlier this week, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) concluded four lifestyle shows at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The shows were: the 29th Food Expo, the 10th Hong Kong International Tea Fair, the 3rd Beauty & Wellness Expo, and the 5th Home Delights Expo. At these events, nearly 2,100 exhibitors showcased a wide range of products and services and attracted some 510,000 consumers and trade buyers.

CCID’s revenues up 25% in first half

Beijing, 2nd August: CCID Consulting, an IT research and information service provider in China, posted revenue growth of 25% in the first half of 2018 amounting to US$9.3 million. Profit in the six-month period was US$317,000, compared with a loss of US$1.3 million recorded in the same period in 2017. Earnings per share in the period were RMB 0.0035 (US$0.0005).

Sino Splendid reduces loss in first half

Hong Kong, 8th August: Hong Kong-listed Sino Splendid (formerly China.com) has recently released its results for the six-month period ended 30th June 2018. Revenues in the first half were US$5.3 million, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%. The company attributed the slight decline to weaker performance from its Travel Media Business and Financial Magazine Business. The company reduced its loss to US$1.9 million compared with a loss of US$22 million in the same period in 2017.

BOL’s revenues up 14% in Q2

Bangkok, 6th August: Earlier this week, Business Online (BOL), a leading online information service provider in Thailand, reported its financial results for the quarter ended 30th June 2018. Revenues in the quarter grew 14%, reaching US$3.7 million. The company posted net income of US$945,000, an increase of 12% year-on-year. The company attributed the increase in revenues to the strong performance of its information services business as well as revenues from special one-off projects.
