Melbourne, 21st August: The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) reports that there was an estimated 25% increase in economic impact from business events in the financial year 2017-2018. Business events in Melbourne generated revenues of A$396 million (US$291 million) from 176 events. The number of first-time visitors was the highest in the past seven years – including over 79,000 new visitors.

Hong Kong, 15th August: Earlier this week, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) concluded four lifestyle shows at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The shows were: the 29th Food Expo, the 10th Hong Kong International Tea Fair, the 3rd Beauty & Wellness Expo, and the 5th Home Delights Expo. At these events, nearly 2,100 exhibitors showcased a wide range of products and services and attracted some 510,000 consumers and trade buyers.

Greater Noida, 11th August: India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML), a leading exhibition organiser in India, launched the inaugural edition of India International Hospitality Expo (IHE) on 8th August 2018 at India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida.

Bangkok, July: UBM, a leading international exhibition organiser, will open its latest event, Food & Hotel Thailand (FHT) 2018 running from 5th to 8th September and featuring more than 300 international and local suppliers from over 30 countries.

Shanghai, 10th August: The biennial wire China and Tube China exhibition will return to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) next month from 26th to 29th September.

Asia, 6th August: Cvent, an event management software & hospitality solutions provider, has released its Top Meeting Destination in the Asia Pacific region in 2018. Singapore is ranked the best meeting destination by Cvent.

Beijing, 2nd August: CCID Consulting, an IT research and information service provider in China, posted revenue growth of 25% in the first half of 2018 amounting to US$9.3 million. Profit in the six-month period was US$317,000, compared with a loss of US$1.3 million recorded in the same period in 2017. Earnings per share in the period were RMB 0.0035 (US$0.0005).

Hong Kong, 8th August: Hong Kong-listed Sino Splendid (formerly China.com) has recently released its results for the six-month period ended 30th June 2018. Revenues in the first half were US$5.3 million, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%. The company attributed the slight decline to weaker performance from its Travel Media Business and Financial Magazine Business. The company reduced its loss to US$1.9 million compared with a loss of US$22 million in the same period in 2017.

Bangkok, 6th August: Earlier this week, Business Online (BOL), a leading online information service provider in Thailand, reported its financial results for the quarter ended 30th June 2018. Revenues in the quarter grew 14%, reaching US$3.7 million. The company posted net income of US$945,000, an increase of 12% year-on-year. The company attributed the increase in revenues to the strong performance of its information services business as well as revenues from special one-off projects.

Bangkok, 3rd August: The first Asian MICE Cruise Conference will be held as part of IT&CMA 2018 on 18th September. Industry leaders are expected to gather at the conference. It will include a panel discussion led by cruise CEOs as well as an exchange on the case for forecast growth of MICE cruises. The conference will address a wide variety of other topics and it will offer networking opportunities at hosted breakfasts, coffee breaks and luncheons.

Foshan/Hannover, 23rd July: Deutsche Messe, an international exhibition organiser, will launch a new international fair for the metalworking and sheet metal working industry, Metal + Tech, in Foshan, Guangdong province.

Paris/Hong Kong, 9th August: UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, released the 14th edition of its Trade Fair Industry in Asia annual report, covering 17 markets including Greater China and Southeast Asian markets, Japan, Korea, India, Pakistan, Australia, Cambodia and Myanmar. The report provides complete data on these regions up to 31st December 2017, with additional figures and commentary on likely trends for the following year.

Paris & Singapore, 26th July: Last week, UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Singapore MICE Forum 2018.

New Delhi, 26th July: UBM India will launch the inaugural edition of ProPak India next month. The event will run from 30th August to 1st September 2018 and serve India’s growing processing and packaging industries.

Singapore, 27th July: Aloysius Arlando has been elected as the new president of Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS). Arlando was elected at the recent SACEOS annual general meeting (AGM). He replaces outgoing president, Janet Tan-Collis.
