New Delhi, 24th July: A consortium led by the eSang Networks, a leading exhibition organiser in Korea, and KINTEX, operator of Korea’s largest exhibition venue, has won a bid to manage and operate the India International Convention and Exhibition Center (IICC) in New Delhi for 20 years. IICC is often referred to as the Dwarka project.

Taipei, 25th July: UBM Taiwan opened the second edition of its Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum this week at the Taipei World Trade Center. More than 210 exhibitors will occupy some 400 booths, showcasing innovative, eco-friendly and sustainable products and technologies serving the agriculture, aquaculture and livestock industries.

China, 23rd July: WPP, a leading global, marketing communications service company, is in preliminary talks to sell a minority stake in its China business to a consortium which includes Alibaba, Tencent and China Media Capital (CMC).

London, 17th July: Ascential plc announced the completion of its sale of Ascential Exhibitions to ITE Group plc for a total cash consideration of £300 million (US$395 million).

London, 25th July: Following Informa’s acquisition of UBM earlier this year, Informa has announced changes to the senior management team at UBM Asia.

Shanghai, 19th July: This week, China’s largest e-commerce company, Alibaba Group, announced the company would pay US$1.43 billion for a 6.62% share in Focus Media Information Technology Company. Alibaba also announced plans to acquire an additional 5% interest in Focus Media within the next 12 months.

Shanghai, 11th July: Recently, ISPO Shanghai was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The event presented key summer sports products and trends for the coming season.  ISPO Shanghai featured 526 exhibitors and 655 sports brands.

Hong Kong, 6th July: Last month, UBM Asia concluded the 31st edition of the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (June Fair). The event attracted a total of 28,131 visitors from 91 countries and regions. This represents an increase of 9.7% from last year’s figure.

Shanghai, 18th July: The organisers of Texcare Asia and the China Laundry Expo signed a deal on 18th July 2018 agreeing to merge the two fairs into a single show covering the textile care and laundry chain industries in Asia.

Paris, 17th July: Last week, UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, announced the winner of its annual UFI Human Resources Award. The winner of the 2018 award is the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Paris, 18th July: Earlier this week, UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, released its latest biannual, Global Barometer Survey, reflecting the state of global trade show industry. All four global regions (Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East-Africa) reported positive developments related to turnover (revenues).

Melbourne, 8th July: This week, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) officially opened its new expansion on 8th July. The new halls add 20,000 m2 bringing MCEC’s total gross indoor space to 70,000 m2.

Hong Kong, 9th July: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened its 25th Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer on 9th July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The event showcased about 1,100 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions.

Beijing, 5th July: The 7th All in CARAVANING (AIC) was held for the first time at Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center, occupying a total exhibition area of 35,000 m2.

Brisbane, 5th July: Following a record year of activity by Brisbane Convention Bureau, the city is expected to generate more than A$96 million (US$71 million) of revenues directly attributable to convention activities.

Bangkok, 10th July: Earlier this week, JETRO Bangkok and CEBIT ASEAN Bangkok signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to foster the partnership and collaboration between the two organisations.798
