HKTDC’s exhibition revenue hits US$250 million

Hong Kong, July: Recently, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) published its annual report for the financial year ended 31st March 2018. Revenues generated from the HKTDC’s exhibitions and missions were US$250 million, slightly higher than last year’s figure. The HKTDC’s total revenues, including a government subvention of US$49 million, were US$360 million – also similar to the previous year’s numbers.

HKECIA: Hong Kong exhibitions post solid results in 2017

Hong Kong, 26th June: Last week, the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) released the results of its annual exhibition survey. A total of 135 exhibitions with a gross size over 2,000 m2 were held during 2017. Among them, 87 were classified as “trade” and “trade and consumer” exhibitions. The remaining 48 exhibitions were purely “consumer” exhibitions, which were not included in the survey.

Adsale’s printing and label events attract 76,000+ visitors

Guangzhou, 27th June: The 25th South China International Exhibition on Printing Industry (Printing South China 2018) and the China International Exhibition on Label Printing Technology (Sino-Label 2018) were held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. The events attracted 76,228 visitors from over 100 countries, including 10,516 from overseas.

Pico’s revenues up 34% in first half

Hong Kong, 22nd June: Last week, Hong Kong-listed Pico Far East Holdings announced its interim results for the six months ended 30th April 2018. Revenues were US$292 million – representing year-on-year growth of 34%. Profit in the first half increased slightly, by 3.4%, reaching US$16 million. Diluted earnings per share in the six-month period were HK$0.1037 (US$0.013).

UBM acquires Shanghai International Franchise Exhibition

Shanghai, 14th June: Last week, UBM Sinoexpo, subsidiary of UBM plc, announced that the company acquired 70% interest in the Shanghai International Franchise Exhibition (SFE). No financial details of the acquisition were disclosed.

 

Organised by Shanghai Exhibition-Conference Limited (SEC), SFE was launched in 2005. It is held twice a year – a spring and an autumn edition. The exhibition is reportedly one of the largest franchising events in China. Exhibitors are mainly from the food, beverage and retail sectors. At the spring 2018 edition, the exhibition attracted 221 exhibitors with over 450 brands and more than 50,000 visitors.
