IFAT India 2017 attracts 6,700+ visitors

Mumbai, 4th October: The fifth edition of IFAT India was held from 26th to 28th September 2017 at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) in Mumbai attracting 6,765 visitors. That represents year-on-year growth of roughly 30%.

 

IFAT India 2017 showcased 184 exhibitors, a 28% increase over the previous year. This year’s edition covered approximately 8,100 m2. Products categories covered by the show included water, sewage, refuse and recycling. According to Messe München, 54% of exhibitors were international coming from 18 countries – including Germany, China, Switzerland, Austria and the U.S.

480+ exhibitors at VietWater 2017

Ho Chi Minh City, 11th October: Positioned as Vietnam’s leading international water supply event, VietWater 2017 will be held from 8th to 10th November 2017 at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, featuring more than 480 companies from 38 countries and regions.

 

Organised by UBM Asia, products at the show will include cutting-edge technologies, solutions, products and equipment serving key sectors including: water supply, sanitation, waste water treatment, purification and desalination.

Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting moves to Dongguan

Dongguan/Shanghai, 18th October: Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting (BEWC) has historically alternated between Beijing and Shanghai. Beginning in 2018, the show will alternate between Dongguan and Shanghai.

 

The first Dongguan edition of BEWC will be held at the GD Modern International Exhibition Center running from 8th to 11th May 2018. According to Messe Essen GmbH, selecting Dongguan as the new event location was in part due to Dongguan’s rise as one of China’s largest and most important industrial centres.

MyCEB announces promotions in marketing & communications team

Kuala Lumpur, 2nd October: Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has announced two promotions, Ms. Tan Mei Phing as Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications, and Mr. Izad Ismail Abdullah as Manager, PR & Communications.

 

In her new position, Ms. Mei Phing will be responsible for the Marketing & Communications Division, including Marketing & Branding, Industry & Product Development, PR & Communications, and Market Research. She will report directly to CEO of MyCEB, Datuk Zulkefli Hj. Sharif. While, Mr. Izad will manage PR & Communication activities for MyCEB’s Business Events and Malaysia Major Events divisions.

Pico forms “Imaginators”

Hong Kong, 28th September: Hong Kong-listed Pico Far East Holdings Limited has formed a new company, “Imaginators”. The new company will support the “Pico+” offerings.

 

The new company offers services such as strategic audits and analysis, customer intelligence, the creation of IP events and live experiences, and communications strategies and tactics.

Singapore secures large events

Singapore, 29th September: According to media reports, Singapore secured several large-scale events in the first half of 2017 ranging from world congresses to regional exhibitions to conferences. Some of the events will be held for the first time in Southeast Asia bringing Singapore an additional 20,000 visitors.

 

Recently confirmed congresses include: International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) Annual Meeting to be held in 2021 featuring some 1,200 healthcare professionals; the 20th International Congress of Endocrinology (ICE) in 2022 with more than 4,000 endocrinologists; and the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) in 2024, targeting 8,000 delegates. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will bring two events, the 46th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IECON) in 2020 featuring 1,300 overseas attendees; and IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing in 2022 with about 2,000 attendees. The two congresses will be held for the first time in Southeast Asia.

Wall Street Journal to stop print editions in Europe & Asia

Asia & Europe, 28th September: The Wall Street Journal has announced plans to end print editions in both Europe and Asia due to increasing costs and decreasing advertising revenues. The European edition was launched in 1983, while the Asia edition was launched in 1976. Both editions will end later this month.

 

As a result of the decline in advertising revenues, The Wall Street Journal has introduced “WSJ 2020” which is a three-year plan to encourage news consumers to access The Journal via their mobile phones. According to The Wall Street Journal, ad revenue fell 12% in the most recent quarter, but the publication has 1.3 million digital-only subscribers.

HKECIA survey: Positive trends for Hong Kong

Hong Kong, 27th September: Earlier this week, the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) released the results of its annual exhibition survey. A total of 83 exhibition organisers responded including both “trade” and “trade and consumer” event organisers. To quality, the organisers must have hosted an event with a minimum size 2,000 m2 held during the previous year.

Mega Expo reduces its loss

Hong Kong, 22nd September: Mega Expo (formerly known as Kenfair), a Hong Kong-based exhibition and event organiser, announced its financial results for the year ended 30th June 2017. The company reported total revenues of US$13 million – down 36% compared to the previous year. The company reduced its net loss to US$5.03 million compared with a loss of US$8.7 million in 2016.
