Originally, Alibaba.com was only open to suppliers in China allowing them to connect with buyers in overseas markets. As of this month, small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the U.S. can begin selling on the Alibaba.com platform as well.
Alibaba.com has also launched new features for U.S. suppliers. U.S. sellers on Alibaba.com will have access to an easy-to-use interface for building and managing a digital store on the platform. Alibaba has also created a “Customer Success” team in the U.S. to support the newly joined suppliers.
John Caplan, head of North American B2B operations at Alibaba Group, remarked, “Alibaba aims to empower entrepreneurs and help them succeed on their own terms. With 10 million active business buyers in over 190 countries and regions, we are reshaping B2B commerce by providing the tools and services needed for U.S. SMB companies to compete and succeed in today’s global marketplace.”
