opens platform to U.S. suppliers

China, 23rd July: The Alibaba Group’s B2B platform,, plans to open its platform to manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors in the U.S.

Originally, was only open to suppliers in China allowing them to connect with buyers in overseas markets. As of this month, small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the U.S. can begin selling on the platform as well. has also launched new features for U.S. suppliers. U.S. sellers on will have access to an easy-to-use interface for building and managing a digital store on the platform. Alibaba has also created a “Customer Success” team in the U.S. to support the newly joined suppliers.

John Caplan, head of North American B2B operations at Alibaba Group, remarked, “Alibaba aims to empower entrepreneurs and help them succeed on their own terms. With 10 million active business buyers in over 190 countries and regions, we are reshaping B2B commerce by providing the tools and services needed for U.S. SMB companies to compete and succeed in today’s global marketplace.”
