Hong Kong, 8th July: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened its 26th Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer on 8th July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Over 1,000 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions attended offering visitors the latest fashion designs, international brands, garments, fabrics and accessories.
The four-day event concluded on 11th July. Key attractions at this year’s edition included: the Corporate Fashion and Uniforms Zone; the Fashion Gallery presenting high-end fashion and designer collections; the International Fashion Designers’ Showcase bringing fashion accessories inspired by the hiragana characters created by renowned Japanese calligrapher Saori Kunihiro. Other zones at the event were: Fashionable Sportswear, Intimate Wear & Swimwear, Womenswear, Fabrics & Yarn, Infant & Children’s Wear, Knitwear, Menswear and World of Fashion Accessories.
According to the HKTDC, over 10,000 buyers from 73 countries and regions joined the event. Buyer attendance from ASEAN countries, Japan and Russia recorded the most significant growth. More than ten fashion events including international fashion shows, a buyer forum, a networking reception and luncheons were held during the week.
Benjamin Chau, HKTDC Acting Executive Director, remarked, “As part of Fashion Week, we organised various seminars covering topics such as fashion tech, fashion e-commerce strategies, and India’s huge market potential. These events will enable SMEs to boost the quality of their products by helping them explore the use of new technologies, upgrade their sales channels, and seek out new business opportunities beyond the traditional European and US markets.”
