RELX Group’s exhibitions profit up 9% in first half

London, 26th July: Last week, London-listed RELX Group (formerly Reed Elsevier) reported its results for the six months ended 30th June 2018. The group’s total revenues were £3.7 billion (US$4.8 billion), an underlying growth of 4%. Adjusted operating profit in the period increased by 6% amounting to £1.1 billion (US$1.5 billion).

The group’s exhibitions business generated revenues of £657 million (US$868 million), up 5% year-on-year. Adjusted operating profit in the year grew 9%, reaching £214 million (US$283 million).

In the first six months of 2018, RELX launched 17 new events and piloted several data analytics products, and completed one acquisition. Exhibition operations in Japan and China recorded strong growth, while the performance in Europe was more modest. The U.S. market recorded growth that varied based on the industry sector.
