ICC Sydney aims to bring mega events back to Sydney

Sydney, 20th March: After opening in late 2016, the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has succeeded in bringing back some large-scale business events to Sydney.

One of the events highlighted by management is the ASEAN Australia Special Summit, which was held earlier in March, brining political leaders and delegates from across Southeast Asia and Australia.

The next large-scale event will be Sibos, which is billed as the world’s leading financial services conference. It will run from 22nd to 25th October and organisers are expecting more than 6,000 delegates to attend. Following that the World Congress of Accountants will be held from 5th to 8th November, drawing some 4,500 attendees.

David Swagell, head of industry – professional services and technology with Business Events Sydney, stated, “A lot of large events couldn’t come to Sydney for the three years that ICC was in construction. We are now having a lot of conversations in the international marketplace to bring these events back to Sydney.”
