87,000 buyers at HKTDC’s jewellery shows

Hong Kong, 5th March: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) concluded its two jewellery shows earlier this month, featuring a record number of buyers – approximately 87,000 visitors from 145 countries and regions. This represents a 2% increase over last year’s event.

The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show was held at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) from 27th February to 3rd March and it attracted more than 33,000 buyers. Approximately 53,000 buyers visited the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 1st to 5th March.

More than 4,550 exhibitors participated in the two exhibitions. The HKTDC noted that there was significant growth in buyer numbers from Japan, Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iran and Turkey.

Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, stated, “We are delighted that exhibitor attendance at both shows was the highest in years, and that attendance of both local and overseas buyers set new records. This shows that Hong Kong is an important sourcing platform for the global jewellery industry.”
