India, 8th December: Earlier this month, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India, the Indian subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt, announced plans to acquire Fitex India from Haryana-based trade fair company, Smart Events. Financial details for the acquisition were not disclosed.
Launched in 2014, Fitex India, one of the leading fitness and health events in India, is an annual event held in Delhi. The last edition was held in 2016, attracting 42 exhibitors and 12,000 trade visitors. Covering a gross exhibition space of 7,000 m2, the show also featured a live stage performance arena, training zone and other supporting programmes for the fitness and health industries. The next edition will be held from 5th to 6th May 2018 at the India Expo Centre & Mart and will be jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt India and Smart Events.
Through this deal, Messe Frankfurt plans to expand its business segments in India, while Smart Events will benefit from the stronger reach of Fitness India through Messe Frankfurt’s network.
