Philippines takes a strategic look at business events

Philippines, 23rd November: Recently, the Philippines announced it would unveil its first business events roadmap in mid-December. The aim of the roadmap is to firmly position the Philippines as a competitive events destination.

The roadmap was commissioned by two key organisations: the Department of Tourism and the Philippine Several other government agencies supported the initiative. The roadmap will provide the industry with a business events database as well as key industry metrics including: delegates’ average length of stay, preferred destinations, spending inside and outside the event venue, etc. The roadmap will also provide suggestions and guidelines for organisers hoping to attract large groups of between 5,000 to 10,000 participants.

The business events sector is one of the nine priority areas in the National Tourism Development Plan (2017-2022). That plan aims to attract mainly small- and medium-sized events to the country. Large events are unlikely targets due to the current limited venue capacity in the Philippines.
