UBM’s September Jewellery Fair hits new high

Hong Kong, 24th October: UBM Asia, UBM plc’s subsidiary, concluded its September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (September Fair) recently. More than 59,000 buyers from 146 countries and regions attended the event, which is a record-breaking number.

In its 35th edition, the September Fair was held at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) from 13th to 17th September and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 15th to 19th September. The exhibition featured 3,695 exhibitors from 57 countries and regions.

Among the visitors, 17,411 were local visitors from Hong Kong. The remaining 41,711 visitors were from outside Hong Kong, accounted for about 71% of total visitors. The top 10 visitor countries were Mainland China (21,340), India (3,496), Taiwan (1,628), the U.S. (1,600), the Philippines (1,317), Thailand (1,242), Japan (1,067), Korea (1,008), Indonesia (722) and Australia (660).

Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs, UBM Asia, stated, “The 35th edition is an important milestone in the Fair’s history. We are glad to see record-breaking visitor numbers mark this occasion. The figures build on the September Fair’s strong reputation for quality as well as quantity… For instance, China, which posted a remarkable double-digit growth in the number of buyers – 22.6% - to reach 21,340. There was also notable growth in visitor numbers from Ukraine, Iran, Demark and the Philippines. The September Fair offers exhibitors a lot of options in terms of markets.”
