Indonesia, 24th August: Padang, the capital of the province of West Sumatra, will open its first convention centre next year with the aim of attracting more business events to the city.
The Minangkabau International Convention Center is scheduled to open in September 2018 and will have capacity for events of up to 4,000 people. According to the Indonesian Exhibition Companies Association, the new center is expected to effectively attract a wide range of MICE activities to Padang.
To promote Padang, the Western Sumatra chapter of the Indonesian Association of Tourism Employers (ASPPI) will host the third Minangkabau Travel Mart 2017 running from the 3rd to 6th October. This year’s edition will focus on business travel events and sports tourism.
