London, 27th July: Earlier this week, London-listed RELX Group (formerly Reed Elsevier) reported its results for the six months ended 30th June 2017. The group’s total revenues were £3.7 billion (US$4.9 billion). Adjusted operating profit in the period was £1.2 billion (US$1.5 billion), an increase of 5%.
The group’s exhibitions business generated revenues of £628 million (US$827 million), up 6% year-on-year. Adjusted operating profit in the year grew moderately by 1% - amounting to £203 million (US$267 million).
According to Reed’s management, the group launched 21 new events and completed two small acquisitions in the first half of 2017. In the period, the exhibition operations in the Europe posted good growth, while moderate growth was recorded in the U.S. and Japan. Reed’s China events business posted strong growth. Other markets generally recorded strong growth with the exception of Brazil, where the economy is notably weak.
