Singapore holds lead in Asian meetings

Netherlands, 8th May: According to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), there were a record number of 12,212 rotating international association events in 2016, 136 more compared to 2015.

The top three ranked countries in 2016 were the same as last year: the U.S. (934 meetings), Germany (689 meetings) and the U.K. (582 meetings). In Asia, China and Japan each hosted 410 meetings in 2016 and ranked the first in the region and 7th worldwide. The only other Asian markets to rank in the top 20 were South Korea with 267 meetings and Australia with 211 meetings.

In terms of city rankings, Paris placed first worldwide in 2016, with 196 meetings. In Asia, Singapore (6th worldwide) ranked first in the region again, with 151 meetings. Seoul (137 meetings), Bangkok (121 meetings), Beijing (113 meetings) and Hong Kong (99 meetings) are all in the top 20 global city ranking.
